Drawn to St. George as a result of its accommodating climate, many visitors elect to stay. Warm summers and mild winters, makes the area a mecca for all types of outdoor activities.
You can play golf year round on lush deep green fairways located in the middle of red rock canyons. Snow Canyon State Park is an excellent spot for taking a scenic drive, riding a bike or hiking. Here you can rock climb or play on the sand dunes. At Sand Hollow State Park and Quail Creek State Park, you can camp, ride your ATV, or boat. The Red Cliff BLM Recreation site is also nearby. The nearby ski resort of Brian Head offers downhill skiing, snowboarding plus family tubing, and other winter sports. In summer, this is a popular mountain bike destination with trails ranging from mild to extreme.
Right in town, you can enjoy stepping back in time as you tour the former homes of Mormon pioneers – Jacob Hamblin and Brigham Young. Other historic sites include the Mormon Temple Visitor Center and the LDS Tabernacle, the Green Gate Village Historic Inn including historic homes previously owned by Orson Pratt, Thomas Judd and William Bentley. The outdoor theater at Tuacahn Center for the Arts is the home to Broadway productions and other events set against the background of red rock cliffs. St. George is also home to a variety of shops, unique restaurants, movie theaters, spas, and nightlife.
